I ran into http://amiestreet.com (an online music store) a few weeks ago. As a musician with a pending album release, I was intrigued by their model for selling music (something that has been on my mind a lot recently). They use variable pricing to determine how much a song/album sells for. Everything starts free. As interest is generated in the music, the price goes up until it hits a certain threshold (98 cents/song). Users can recommend songs and get a piece of the sales attributed to their account which they can then use to buy more music.
It is a great way to find new music without having to do anything illegal or spend a lot money.
And for artists (like me), it’s a great way to get some exposure.
Earlier today I re-released my 2007 EP (Open Eyes – EP) of 5 tracks recorded in 2004 on Amie Street. Check it out – http://amiestreet.com/music/bradley-kenyon/open-eyes-ep. I encourage everybody to sign up for an account – later this year, it’ll be the only place to get my new release.
Title of the post says it all…
You might notice that there is one less link out of this blog. Today I officially ended my stay at wordpress.com with my blog Your New To-Do List. I exported that blog and imported it to this one. So posts prior to this might be a bit confusing at some points. I apologize. Stay tuned.
I have been progressively obsessed with the idea of flight. I understand that getting one’s feet off the ground hasn’t been a challenge to humans for quite some time now, but that doesn’t downplay the romanticism of it. Our race of wingless dreamers has engineered more than one way to overcome gravity.
In honor of the innovators of flight, I have been doing some simple illustrations of the machines that take us to new heights.
Let’s begin with one of my favourites – the hot air balloon.

As a web developer, one of the most concerning things in my mind over the past 6 months has been the fact that Google has forcefully injected themselves into the ongoing browser-wars with the recent release of Google Chrome (which, as of this writing, STILL does not have a mac version [does google not realize that most designers and web developers use macs?]).
Dear Google,
Stop it.

I haven’t switched servers yet. It just seems like so much work. Probably cause it is. I’m waiting on a few more things first (domain transfers, mainly).
If you look to the right, you’ll notice that I have added a category of links called “Creative Professionals.” I often am telling people that I “know a guy” or can put them in touch with somebody who does what they need. Now, those contacts are being collected in one place. The list will continue to expand. Right off the bat, we have Aaron Hendrick.

The site may be down for a while in the next few nights as I am migrating everything to a new server. I’m not sure if I’ll be doing that tonight or tomorrow night or…well, maybe this afternoon. Who knows. Just wanted to give everybody a quick warning. If it’s not working when you try…try, try again later.

I started designing for a new project today (not one of mine, a friend’s). I am not going to give out too many details just yet. But fear not – I will be telling you a lot more about it and providing links etc as part of the upcoming media blitz for the project.

“My roommate (who is part of the film industry) has recently been [re]making his reel and portfolio website. I’ll provide a link once the site is live.”
CRAIG FINISHED HIS SITE! Go there. And then hire him. For stuff. http://craigchurch.com
“I’ll try to finish at least one of those this week. Look for a download link in a few days…”
Whoops…that was from 20 July. Sorry for dropping the ball – I’ve been busy. I started working on those again though…so don’t fret. They are still on the way. (I got you covered, Kerry).
